The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

2 Thessalonians 3:3

Be faithful, even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Revelation 2:10

The main focus and goal of us as believers in Christ is to be faithful to Him as His children, servants, witnesses and ambassadors. We must learn to trust in Him, love Him and let His Word and Spirit transform us into people who bear His character. We are to live for His honor and glory and to enjoy the incredible blessing of having Him as our Shepherd, Comforter, Strength and Father. We can do this if we are truly born-again and belong to Him as we have His Holy Spirit and Word to enable us; unfortunately the world, the flesh and the devil have twisted many of us into focusing on numbers, money, power, influence and success; Jesus warned against this in Luke 10:20. Let’s be sure we know what we mean by faithfulness in God’s terms; simply put, it is about priorities and commitment proven by consistency. It means we are committed to knowing, loving and serving God each day and to do the will of God for our life consistently. God is faithful to us as His Word tells us what He desires, and He is true to fulfill it. If we are to be faithful to our Lord and people, it means we will speak with honesty, live by integrity and do what we promise; our word is to be our bond!  I am sure none of us would call a person a faithful worker if he showed up for the job late habitually and did not do what he was being assigned to do. Certainly, we would never refer to someone as a faithful spouse in marriage that was only faithful 90% of the time but cheated on their spouse 10% of the time. I think you get the point! Why is it then that we think it is acceptable to God to consider ourselves faithful to Him when He does not get all the love of our heart, mind, soul and strength that the greatest commandment requires? Talk is cheap, proof of who we really love and are committed to is proven by action; good intentions and feelings are no substitute for living truthfully and faithfully.  If you know the Lord Jesus, you know that God is faithful to His Word and that He never leaves us or forsakes us. God sustains us in our trials if we will but stand firm in our faith. I personally can testify that God is absolutely faithful, and He has sustained me in life and kept His promises to me.  It takes faith to live this out but let us remember that “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). My friends, be sure you actually live faithfully for God and people you know in the same way you desire for God and people to be faithful towards you!

Love in Christ,
